It all began when a group of local people met in Canovee Hall on the thirteenth of May 1998. As a result the "Carrigadrohid Castle Project Committee" was formed. Committee Members included, Paddy Ring, Ted Dunne, Paul Power, Michael Murphy, R. Browne, Con Dunne, Mary Harrington Rita O'Brien and Peter Scanlan. The first task was to carry out an Architectural / Archaeological Survey. James Howley, Dublin was appointed Architect with Lisa Edden, Engineer from Wicklow, and Eamomn Cotter, Archaeologist from Rathcormac in Co. Cork On Thursday 27th of July 2000, Minister for the Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht, and the Islands Síle DeValera, launched the completed Archaeological/Architectural Report of Carrigadrohid Castle in Bealick Mill Macroom.
