Following several months of fundraising for the
'Emma Harrington Memorial Fund' a cheque of €78,470.44 was
presented to Dr. David Coleman of Our Lady's Hospital for Sick
Children on Friday 3rd November, 06. In addition a cheque of €1,388
was also presented to 'Ronald McDonald House' which provides a
Home-Away-From-Home for families of the children attending Crumlin
Hospital. In total €79,858.44 was raised under this fund
which was started in memory of Emma Harrington, Curraclough, Lissarda,
who spent her short life under the care of the staff and doctors
at this hospital.
Several events were organized to raise funds to purchase an 'Echo
machine' for Crumlin Hospital in memory of Emma. This Machine
which costs €75,000 will analyze the valves and flow rates
in the heart, equipment like this will hopefully make a difference
to a lot of other children. An overwhelming response from the
Public ensured that this machine will be purchased and put to
good use. Funds were raised through a dance in the G.A.A. Pavilion,
Ovens, participation in the 'Evening Echo Mini Marathon' donations
from Companies, Clubs, and numerous individual's. Emma's Parents
Pat & Bernie along with the organizing Committee Olive Crowley,
Moira Hallissey, Mary Down, Donal O'Leary, Paddy Crowley &
Kevin Harrington wish to sincerely thank all those who gave so
generously to the fund and helped in any way. The bank account
