Your
Ultimate Guide to Cloughduv Hurling Club
Welcome to another edition of Mega Hurl. Yes Mega Hurl is
back again after the winter break, Your ultimate guide to
the activities of your local hurling club. I would like to
take the opportunity to welcome all of you who are new to
the Parish and would like to invite you to join our club.
Joining is easy, simply contact any club member and they will
arrange the rest for you. Hurling is not the only way you
can be part of the club. Over the winter months Cloughduv
take part in the Scor competition which consists of Music,
Song and Dance. This competition is organized by the G.A.A.
and caters for everybody from national school children to
adult
We will start with a brief look at what has been happening
since the last edition of Mega Hurl.
Junior A League Final 2002
Cloughduv played Aghbullogue in the 2002 League Final in October.
Cloughduv played very well and ran out easy winners to complete
a League/Championship double.
Junior B League Final 2002
Cloughduv also qualified for the B League Final. This game was
played in Cloughduv at the end of last year. Ballincollig provided
the opposition, but were no match for Cloughduv. Cloughduv ran
out easy winners and captured the League Title for the 1st time.
St.
Stephen's Day-Long Puck
On St. Stephen's Day Cloughduv held a long puck competition.
This took place from Cloughduv to Aherla. Teams comprised
of a Retired player, a Present player and a Juvenile. Object
of the excise was to get from Cloughduv to Aherla in the least
amount of shots. This event was an outstanding success, everybody
had a great time and are already looking forward to next year.
The winning team was made up of Ted O'Mahony, Tomas Twomey
and Sean Murray.

Dinner
Friday night 27th December saw the Club Dinner take place
in the Abbey Hotel Ballyvourney. Cloughduv Hurling and Camogie
clubs combined for the night and a very enjoyable night was
had by all.
Scor
Cloughduv have again had a great year in the Scor Competition.
Marguerite Vaughan Won the Muskerry Final of Scor na bPaisti
(National School Children) competing in the recitation section.
Also on the day Ashling Vaughan came 2nd in the recitation
and The Novelty Act T also came 2nd. In the County Final Marguerite
Vaughan came 2nd in the Recitation section. In Scor na nOg
(Under 17), Aoife Cronin came 2nd in the Muskerry Final of
the Recitation section. In the Muskerry Final of Scor Sinsir
(Over 17) Cloughduv won the Question Time for the 1st time
at this level and came 2nd in the Novelty Act. Both teams
reached the County Final where the Novelty Act Team came 2nd.
I would like to congratulate all who took part in the various
competitions over the Winter months. Also a big Thank You
to those who prepared individuals and teams for the various
competitions.

Mega
News
Mega News this month is the proposed relocation of Cloughduv
Hurling Club from our present home to a new home adjacent
to the creamery. Stay in touch with Mega news and we will
keep you informed as the news breaks.
Batna
Buckley Cup
This year a Parish League for all those over 17 has been organized.
Four Teams of 15 aside are presently battling it out for the
Batna Buckley Cup. This cup has been kindly presented to the
Club by the Buckley Family in memory of The Late Batna Buckley.
The 2nd round of this competition will be held on tomorrow
Saturday 15th March in Cloughduv at 2.30p.m. Round 3 not yet
fixed.
