Canovee
I.C.A.
Canovee
I.C.A Guild was founded on 17/4/1964. Maureen Lane, Aherla,
and Mis K. Gleeson, Area organiser, were the organisers.
Mis Eileen Dunn was the first President. Membership fee was
5/- in "old", "old" money.
The guilds activities
provided a great social outlet for its members. Demonstrations
and talks have been wide ranging, from crafts to gardening,
cookery to art. The guild participated in Public Speaking,
set dancing, make and model, Table quizzes and painting classes.
Our ballad Group had a County win, and our members received
Briannrai Awards for their crafts. We have named a charity
each year, which we support. This year it is the turn of "
The Irish Lifeboats". Many of our members have been to
the I.C.A College " An Guanan". We have an annual
outing and a Christmas Party.
Our present membership
is low, but as the I.C.A has allot to offer, we are inviting
new members to join us. We meet in Canovee Hall on the first
Thursday of each month.
