Dan Connolly was born in Lehanagh in October 1911. He received his early education at Canovee N.S. Later he went on to Farranferris Diocesan Seminary.

He then went to the Irish College in Rome . He was ordained after 6 years in 1934 at the age of just 23 years. He returned home in 1935. He was Chaplin in St. Angela's in Patrick's hill and the Ursulen Order. His next posting was teaching in St. Finbarr's. The Classics- Latin and Greek were his subjects. He had the honour of become a Canon in his 30's.

 
He became president of Farranferris in the 1950's. In that time the College was extended and land aquired. He was extremely interested in the G.A.A. and encouraged students to become involved, and especially he encouraged them to participate in the Harty Cup Competition, for which the school won the in 1964

Fr. Dan was also a selector for the Minor Cork Hurling Team. He left Farranferris in the early 60's.

He was also conferred with Doctorate of Divinity during his time at Farranferris. He was appointed P.P of St. Peter and Paul's in 1962 and was appointed again P.P. of Bantry in Spring in 1968

He was called a Vicar General, which means he had the job of being a substitute for the Bishop in the area. In the early 1970's he was appointed P.P. of Turner's Cross. At this stage, his health was deteriorating, he took ill and died after morning mass on the 17th May 1974. May He Rest In Peace.

Fr. Dan also had a big interest in Carrigadrohid Castle and was a member of the committee who commemorated the 300th anniversary of the death of Bishop Boetius McEagen, Bishop of Ross at the hands of Cromwell's soldiers. The plaque on th Castle commemorates that to-day.
